Kata and Karate are related but different concepts in martial arts:

Karate:
A Japanese martial art focusing on striking techniques like punches, kicks, and blocks. It’s a system or style of fighting and self-defense.

Kata:
A formal sequence of movements and techniques in karate (and other martial arts). It’s like a β€œpattern” or β€œroutine” that simulates fighting multiple imaginary opponents, teaching form, technique, and flow.

In short: Karate is the martial art itself, while kata is a training method or drill within karate to practice techniques and principles.
